Seattle, a seaport city in Washington State is located between an inlet of the Pacific Ocean called Puget Sound and Lake Washington.
The city is hilly comprising of seven hills called Capitol Hill, First Hill, West Seattle, Beacon Hill, Queen Anne, Magnolia, and Denny Hill. The Wallingford and Mount Baker neighborhoods are also located on hills. Many of the hilliest areas are near the city center.
Seattle's mild climate is classified as Marine West Coast but typically the wet-winters and dry-summers characterize it as Mediterranean type also. Temperature extremes are moderated by the proximity of Puget Sound and Lake Washington.
The Space Needle is the most recognizable landmark and surrounding fairgrounds house the Seattle Center. It is the venue of many cultural events including Bite of Seattle. Seattle is a renowned performing arts center and Seattle Symphony Orchestra is world famous.
